Como as línguas são de natureza heterogênea e estão sujeitas a diferentes tipos de influências, verifica-se a necessidade de os aprendizes de inglês terem conhecimento da existência da variação na língua que estão aprendendo. A importância disso consiste em permitir que os falantes de uma determinada língua consigam manter uma comunicação inteligível e compreensível com outros falantes da mesma. O presente artigo visa a debater e a demonstrar a relevância de se abordar a variação lexical no âmbito do ensino do inglês, porque a maioria dos docentes e instrutores não dão a devida atenção para o ensino de fenômenos linguísticos.
As languages are from a heterogeneous nature and are subjected to different kinds of influences, it is verified the necessity of the English learners have knowledge of the existence of variation in the language which they have been learning. The importance of it consists of allowing speakers of a certain language keep an intelligible and comprehensible communication with speakers of the same language. This article aims to discuss and demonstrate the relevance of approaching lexical variation in English teaching field due to most of the teachers and language instructors do not give the proper attention to linguistic phenomena teaching.
