Este artigo tem como proposta analisar, a partir da estética da recepção, como se deu o reconhecimento de José Joaquim da Veiga Valle, o santeiro goiano, no contexto das primeiras propostas de tombamentos da Cidade de Goiás como Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico, e o uso do artista para o fortalecimento da ideia de a cidade ser o berço da cultura goiana no processo de transferência da capital. Sendo assim, as obras de Veiga Valle se tornam imprescindíveis para o projeto patrimônio e para colocar a Cidade de Goiás como berço da cultura goiana
This article has as a proposal to analyze the importance and recognition of José Joaquim da Veiga Valle, santeiro goiano, from the context of the first proposals for protection of the town of Goiás as historical heritage and the use of the artist for the strengthening the idea of the city being the birthplace of goiana culture in the process of transferring the capital. Therefore, the works of Veiga Valle become essential for the project to put the Cidade de Goiás heritage project and cradle of goiana culture.
