"O bife e a pipoca" é um conto do livro Tchau, de Lygia Bojunga. O título indica metaforicamente os dois protagonistas da história: um garoto rico e um garoto pobre, respectivamente. Nossa proposta é analisar o encontro dos dois e as implicações desse encontro na formação da identidade de cada personagem, a partir da análise da construção da narrativa, especialmente as categorias de narrador, espaço e personagem. A fundamentação teórica do nosso trabalho reúne autores que analisam a estrutura narrativa e as características do conto, além dos que refletem sobre as questões identitárias na contemporaneidade. É importante destacar que a narrativa em questão aborda de maneira crítica a questão da desigualdade social, a qual é responsável pela exclusão e marginalização de sujeitos menos favorecidos. Por outro lado, uma característica da autora é apresentar as diferenças com uma possibilidade de mudança de pensamento e comportamento, uma vez que dá voz ao excluído. Os personagens desse conto representam seres que questionam os valores pré-estabelecidos e, no momento em que interagem com o diferente, o outro, assumem para si identidades livres das convenções sociais.

"O bife e a pipoca" is a short story of the book Tchau, by Lygia Bojunga. The title indicates metaphorically both protagonists: A rich boy and a poor boy, respectively. Our goal is to analyze the meeting of the two and the implications this meeting in forming the identity of each character, from construction analysis of the narrative, especially the categories of narrator, character and space. The theoretical basis of our work brings together authors who analyze the narrative structure of the short story and features, in addition to which reflect on issues of identity in contemporary society. It is important to emphasize the narrative discusses critically the matter of social inequality, which is responsible for exclusion and marginalization of disadvantaged subjects. On the other hand, an author‘s characteristic is to present the differences with a possibility of change in thinking and behavior, since she gives voice to the excluded. The characters in this story represent creatures who question the pre-set values, and when they interact with the different, the other, assume identities for themselves free of social conventions.
