Mediante o fato de que a violência tem desafiado os atendimentos em saúde e a prática profissional
que constantemente requer um preparo contÃnuo, este trabalho visa discutir três tópicos a respeito da
formação médica e a inserção do tema da violência nos currÃculos médicos. O primeiro aborda a
questão da violência como um grave problema de saúde pública; o segundo, decorrente do primeiro,
discute a limitação do modelo biomédico para lidar de modo eficiente com o problema da violência;
e, por fim, o terceiro, discute a educação médica bastante fincada nesse modelo, procurando
sustentar, baseando-se em trabalhos atuais do CLAVES/FIOCRUZ, as possibilidades da inclusão do
tema da violência nos currÃculos médicos, sendo este o objetivo central deste trabalho, para o qual
utiliza-se como metodologia a pesquisa bibliográfica de cunho exploratório.
The issue of violence has challenged the care in health and professional practice that constantly
requires continual preparation. This paper discusses, from a literature review three topics about
education and inclusion of the theme of violence in medical curricula. The first addresses the issue
of violence as a serious public health problem; the second, arising from the first, discusses the
limitation of the biomedical model to deal effectively with the problem of violence; And, finally the
third discusses the medical education rather stuck in this model, for support based on current work
CLAVES/ FIOCRUZ, the possibilities of including the issue of violence in medical curricula,
which is the main objective of this work, for which is used as the methodology literature of stamp
exploratory.
