Transformations in the Brazilian countryside became evident from the beginning of 1960, as a reflection of a governmental policy to encourage agriculture and also as a consequence of the actions taken since the time of the occupation of space by man. The transformations will be reflected, not only in the spice and production, but also in the living conditions of the man who lives and works in this space. Taking into account these transformations at national level, studies were carried out in the municipalities of Moji Mirim and Moji Guaçu, emphasizing the degree of mechanization of agriculture that occurred and the problems encountered for rural development. It was verified that, in the space analyzed, the high degree of macanization did not lead to the desired rural development.
