Objetivo: O objetivo deste artigo foi averiguar
como o emprego dos bisfosfonatos pode ser
capaz de ocasionar osteonecrose na região
da maxila e da mandíbula.
Fontes dos Dados: Realizou-se estudo de
revisão bibliográfi ca com busca nas bases
bibliográfi cas: PubMED, LILACS, Google
Acadêmico de estudos e artigos acerca
das manifestações bucais de osteonecrose,
advindas do emprego dos bisfosfonatos
pelos pacientes em decorrência de
prescrição médica.
Síntese dos Dados: Na região do
Sistema Estomatognático a osteonecrose
proveniente da utilização dos bisfosfonatos
instala-se comumente na maxila e/ou na
mandíbula.
Conclusões: O uso dos bisfosfonatos é
capaz de gerar benefícios consideráveis
para o paciente doente, sendo viável através
do seu emprego a obtenção de melhores
condições e qualidade de vida, visando o
enfrentamento das doenças. A osteonecrose
ocasiona dor, desconforto e muito sofrimento
aos indivíduos acometidos e sabe-se que o
tratamento realizado é demorado, portanto,
medidas preventivas devem ser adotadas,
evitando a ocorrência dessa doença, bem
como das suas possíveis complicações.
Objective: The objective of this article was to
investigate how the use of bisphosphonates
may be capable of causing osteonecrosis in
the maxilla and mandible regions.
Data Sources: A bibliographic review was
carried out with a search in the bibliographic
databases: PubMED, LILACS, Google
Scholar of studies and articles about oral
manifestations of osteonecrosis, arising
from the use of bisphosphonates by patients
due to medical prescription.
Synthesis of data: In the stomatognathic
system, osteonecrosis resulting from the use of bisphosphonates is commonly installed in
the maxilla and / or the mandible.
Conclusions: The use of bisphosphonates is
capable of generating considerable benefi ts
for the sick patient, being viable to obtain
better conditions and quality of life, aiming
at coping with the diseases. Osteonecrosis
causes pain, discomfort and much suff ering
to the aff ected individuals and it is known
that the treatment is delayed, therefore,
preventive measures should be adopted,
avoiding the occurrence of this disease, as
well as its possible complications.
