Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar o projeto religioso defendido pelo Pe. Diogo Antônio Feijó. Suas atitudes políticas estavam na contramão dos interesses da Santa Sé, pois sugeriam uma Igreja que valorizasse a liberdade do individuo e o fim ao celibato clerical. Para este sacerdote, a Igreja deveria se adaptar as realidades locais, funcionando como apoio para o Estado. Em seus pronunciamentos posicionou-se contrário à centralidade papal e ao fim do celibato clerical.
This article aims to analyze the religious project defended by Father Diogo Antônio Feijó. Their political attitudes were against the interests of the Holy See, as they suggested a Church that valued the individual's freedom and an end to clerical celibacy. For this priest, the Church should adapt to local realities, acting as support for the State. In his pronouncements, he was against the papal centrality and the end of clerical celibacy.
