O objetivo deste artigo é analisar o papel do intelectual, no caso do dramaturgo como Dias Gomes e sua atividade como intelectual na sociedade brasileira, a partir de pensadores como A. Gramsci, J. P. Sartre e E. Said. A obra a ser analisada é O Pagador de Promessas e busca compreender como Dias Gomes se insere como um intelectual orgânico e um crítico da do Brasil e como também consegue navegar entre a linguagem teatro e os suportes comunicacionais, como o rádio e a televisão. Na sua atividade como intelectual, Dias Gomes conseguiu um espaço importante na produção cultural brasileira, mas também sofreu críticas por se inserir na produção televisiva. Este trabalho, portanto, procurará entender as tensões presentes na sua ação como dramaturgo e também como intelectual.

The objective of this paper is to analyze the role of the intellectual, as in this case, the playwright Dias Gomes, and his activity as an intellectual in Brazilian society, from thinkers like A. Gramsci, J. P. Sartre and E. Said. The work to be analyzed is The Payer of Promises and seeks to understand how Dias Gomes falls as an organic intellectual and critic of Brazil and also how can navigate between language theater and media communication such as radio and television. In his work as intellectual, Dias Gomes got an important place in Brazilian cultural production, but also suffered criticism for inserting himself in television production. This work, therefore, seeks to understand the tensions present in his actions as an intellectual and a playwright .
