Este ensaio analisa, no romance At Swim-Two-Birds, o primeiro do escritor irlandêsFlann O’Brien, publicado em 1939, as instâncias narratológicas de autoria, escrita enarratividade. O ponto de partida é o próprio início do livro, com três começos diferentes. Issopossibilita o estabelecimento de uma possível estrutura para o livro, compreendendo trêsdiferentes ‘romances’ interligados, cada um com seus três diferentes narradores. É atravésdesses três diferentes narradores que Flann O’Brien, avant la lettre, discute, rasura e subverteas noções tradicionais de autor, narrador e narrativa.
This essay analyses in the novel At Swim-Two-Birds, the first by Irish writer Flann O’Brien and published in 1939, the instances of aut horship, writing and narrativity. The starting point is established by the novel itself, with its three different beginnings. This allows for the establishment of a possible structure for the book comprising three different ‘novels’ intertwined with each other, each one with its three different narrators. It is through these three different narrators that Flann O’Brien, in an avant la lettre way, discusses, revamps and subverts the traditional notions of author, narrator, and narrative.
