MORTE E LUTO: A IMPORTÂNCIA DA EDUCAÇÃO PARA O PROFISSIONAL DE SAÚDE

Objetivou-se analisar e refletir sobre questões acerca da morte e luto, sua importância para a formação profissional na saúde e manutenção da saúde mental. Para tanto, foi realizada uma revisão da literatura, com buscas nas bases de dados LILACS e SCIELO, utilizando como palavras-chave: morte x profissionais de saúde, educação x morte. Foram encontrados 16 documentos, que foram categorizados em: vivência da morte e luto e preparo do acadêmico de saúde para a morte. As escolas de saúde precisam repensar a educação para o tema e preparar melhor seus alunos para lidar com a morte de forma individual e natural na assistência. Os serviços devem auxiliar os profissionais, principalmente, aos que assistem a pacientes em estado terminal, promovendo discussões e reflexões sobre o assunto e a educação permanente. Essas são ações conjuntas de grande importância para promover atenção mais humanizada e conscientização dos profissionais, de seus limites e possibilidades.

The aim of this paper is to analyze and reflect on issues about death and mourning, its importance for the professional training in health and maintenance of mental health. A literature review was performed, with searches in the LILACS and SciELO databases, using the keywords: death x health professionals, education x death. A total of 16 documents were found, which were categorized into: the experience of death and mourning; preparation of the health undergraduate student to process death. Health education schools need to rethink their training on the subject and better prepare their students to deal with death in an individual and natural form in care. These services should assist the professionals, especially those who attend to patients in terminal states, promoting discussion and reflection on the issue and offering continuing education. These joint activities are of great importance to promote more humane care and awareness of the professionals, their limits and possibilities.
