O presente trabalho tem como objetivo teórico de estudo a trajetória das Instituições Federais de Educação Profissional desde a sua origem como Escolas de Aprendizes Artífices implantadas no início do século, mais precisamente em 1909, durante o governo do presidente Nilo Peçanha, até sua configuração atual materializada nos Institutos Federais de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia (IFETs) criados em 2009. O objetivo proposto é resgatar a historicidade dessas instituições em seu mais de um século de existência, relacionando-a aos determinantes socioeconômicos que influenciaram profundamente a sua história ao longo desse período.
This paper aims at studying the theoretical path of Federal Institutions of Vocational Education from its beginning as Schools of Craft Apprentices established in the early XXth century, more precisely in 1909, during President Nilo Peçanha's term to its present configuration as Federal Institutions of Education, Science and Technology (IFETs), as of 2009. The purpose of the study is to rescue the history of these institutions with more than a century of existence, relating it to the socioeconomic determinants which deeply influenced their history over this period.
