Este artigo investiga as relações econômicas oriundas da pesca artesanal no município de São João da Barra – RJ a partir da estrutura conceitual de cadeias produtivas, de maneira a entender os níveis de interação entre os diversos atores e os respectivos reflexos no contexto da competitividade. A pesquisa, de cunho qualitativo e exploratório, utiliza o método da pesquisa-ação e busca a identificação dos reais problemas que deprimem a atividade e, fundamentalmente, a identificação das possíveis alternativas de regularização. Tal esforço se justifica em função da relevância histórica e econômica da atividade que, nos últimos anos, vem sofrendo uma forte depressão.
This paper discusses the economic relations found in artisan fishing in the municipality of São João da Barra, RJ, based on the conceptual structure of supply chains, in order to understand the levels of interaction among the different actors, and how this reflects in their competitiveness. The qualitative and exploratory survey was carried by using the action research methodology aiming at the identification of the real problems that weakens the activity and, more specifically, possible regulation alternatives. Such effort is justified by the historical and economic importance of such activity which, in recent years, has suffered a severe depression.
