A proposta deste trabalho é dialogar com alguns dos principais conceitos da teoria de Mikhail Bakhtin tendo, como pano de fundo, textos que fazem referência aos espelhos como representação da relação eu-outro, do dialogismo que marca a interação entre um ser humano com outro ser humano e dos seres humanos com o mundo. E demonstrar que a imagem refletida no espelho é uma construção social. A reflexão será feita a partir de três textos do escritor Frei Betto: uma crítica autobiográfica, “Por que escrevo”, e dois contos: “O hóspede” e “Egg”.
The purpose of this work is to discuss some of the key concepts of the theory of Mikhail Bakhtin, using texts which refer to mirrors as a representation of the self-other relation, of the notion of dialogism, which characterizes the interaction between a human being with another and human beings with the world. The paper also discusses that the reflected image in the mirror is a social construction. The discussion is based on three texts by the writer Frei Betto: “Why I write”, “The guest” and “Egg”.
