This study aims to analyze a variation of verbal agreement in synthetic passive voice constructions, in the light of the theoretical-methodological assumptions of Variationist Sociolinguistics (LABOV, 2008 [1972]). The data were collected in two newspapers in the city of Fortaleza, considering the textual genres: editorial, opinion article and news. The results indicate that 59.5% of the occurrences present the verb with an explicit plural mark in relation to the noun phrase postponed in the plural. Peripheral and infinitive verbal forms favor verbal non-agreement in this type of construction. The news genre emerges with a higher percentage of verbal forms without a plural plural mark in relation to the postponed SN.
