O texto analisa a assinatura do “Acordo entre a República Federativa do Brasil e a Santa Sé relativo ao Estatuto Jurídico da Igreja Católica no Brasil”, em vigência desde 2010. Além de acompanhar alguns aspectos de seu trâmite e sua repercussão, privilegia o documento como acesso às formas de reconhecimento do “religioso” no Brasil. Na sua esteira, são ainda consideradas outras propostas legislativas e debates sobre o ensino religioso em escolas públicas.
The paper analyzes the “Agreement between the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Holy See concerning the legal status of the Catholic Church in Brazil,” in effect since 2010. In addition to tracking some aspects of the lawsuit and its impact, the document is viewed as a privileged access to the forms of rec-ognition of “religious” in Brazil. In its wake, are still considered other legislative proposals and debates on religious education in public schools.
