Os procedimentos de aprovisionamento e de
consumo alimentar em uso no Brasil colonial seiscentista
foram utilizados para pensar as peculiaridades da vida
cotidiana e da condição feminina. Por esse viés de análise,
compensou-se a escassez das informações sobre as atividades
permitidas às mulheres. Com efeito, a sociedade colonial
soteropolitana ou pernambucana, fortemente marcada por
critérios de hierarquia social associados à produção e Ã
exportação do açúcar, outorgava pouca visibilidade social à s
mulheres.
Procedures of food provisioning and alimentary
habits were employed to study the peculiarities of daily life
and feminine condition during the 17th century in colonial
Brazil. The analysis was conducted to compensate the scarcity
of information about the activities that women were allowed
to perform. As a matter of fact, in the highly hierarchic society
of Bahia and Pernambuco that was devoted to the
production and exportation of sugar, little social visibility
was alloted to women.
