Tomás de Sutton pertence à Primeira Escola Tomista e o seu estilo é realmente
muito parecido com o estilo de Tomás de Aquino. Por esta razão, durante
muito tempo, algumas doutrinas de Tomás de Sutton foram, por vezes,
atribuÃdas a Tomás de Aquino. A intenção deste trabalho é mostrar que apesar
de ser um grande tomista, algumas interpretações de Sutton não procedem de
seu mestre, como a interpretação da materia signata na individuação da
substância corpórea. O objetivo deste artigo é expor a doutrina de Tomás de
Sutton sobre esta questão.
Thomas of Sutton belongs to the Early Thomistic School and his style is really
very similar to the Thomas Aquinas’ style. For this reason, for a long time,
some doctrines of Thomas of Sutton were, sometimes, attributed to Thomas
Aquinas. The intention of this paper is to show that despite being a great
thomist, Sutton’s some interpretations don’t proceeds from his master, as the
interpretation of the materia signata in the individuation of corporeal substance.
The aim of this paper is to expose the doctrine of Thomas Sutton on this issue.
