QUALIDADE DE VIDA DE PACIENTES SUBMETIDOS A CIRURGIA BARIÁTRICA NO MUNICÍPIO DE CASCAVEL/PR

A obesidade é provavelmente uma das enfermidades mais antigas do homem. Desenhos rupestres mostram o
homem pré-histórico com aspectos de peso excessivo para a sua altura. A obesidade severa ou mórbida é uma doença grave
e potencialmente mortal. O seu impacto na sociedade, as repercussões na qualidade e diminuição do tempo de vida dessas
pessoas são razões mais do que sufi cientes para justifi car os atuais critérios de intervenção para amenizar o problema. A
cirurgia bariátrica é o tratamento cirúrgico que se deve aplicar naqueles pacientes que fracassaram nas medidas médicodietéticas
para redução de peso. A cirurgia tem comprovado sua efetividade no tratamento da obesidade mórbida desde 1966.
Ao longo desses anos, se tem desenvolvido técnicas cada vez melhores, mais seguras e menos traumáticas. Desenvolveu-se
pesquisa qualitativa com 9 pacientes de uma clínica do município de Cascavel/PR, com 9 pacientes maiores de 18 anos, de
ambos os sexos. Os resultados mostraram que os pacientes submetidos a cirurgia bariátrica, mesmo correndo alguns riscos,
fariam a cirurgia novamente, se necessário, e que, como resultado da mesma, eles obtiveram a extinção das suas patologias
associadas e a melhora da sua qualidade de vida, da sua saúde e do seu convívio social.

Obesity is probably one of the diseases which most affect men. Rupestral drawings show the pre-historic
man with aspects of extreme weight for his height. Severe or morbid obesity is a serious and potentially mortal illness. Its
impact in the society, the repercussions on the quality of life and the reduction of the lifespan of these people present to
be enough reasons to justify the current criteria of intervention to brighten up the problem. Bariatric surgery is a surgical
treatment which must be applied to those patients who had failed the doctor-dietary measures for weight reduction. The
surgery has proven its effectiveness for the treatment of morbid obesity since 1966. Throughout these years, better, safer, and
less traumatic techniques have been developed. A qualitative research was developed including patients from a clinic in the
city of Cascavel, PR, with 9 patients older than 18 years of age, both genders. The results showed that the patients submitted
to bariatric surgery, even under some risks, would face the same surgery again if necessary, and, because of its results, they
had the associated pathologies extinct, and the improvement of their quality of life, health, and social life.
