Neste texto pretendemos abordar a presença do leitor na crônica de Lycidio Paes, enfatizando as diversas interpretações descritas pelo cronista ao citar o leitor que assume diferentes atitudes. A partir dessas caracterÃsticas podemos perceber como o jornal propicia a formação intelectual do leitor, seja por meio de um discurso politicamente doutrinário, seja por meio da apresentação de novos hábitos e práticas sociais. E, por outro lado, como o leitor - que não é um sujeito passivo - rearticula e reelabora as informações que recebe.
In this writing. we intend to approach the presence of the reader in Lyddio Paes'chronicle so that to emphasise the diverse interpretations described by the chronicler in citing the reader that takes different attitudes. Through these features we can realise both how newspapers provide the reader with intellectual education, whether through a discourse politicaJJy doctrinaire or an introduction of new habits e social practices, and how the reader - who is not a passive subject - rearticulates and reelaborates
information he receives.
