Resumo Português:
Este artigo acadêmico tem por objetivo analisar o cotidiano das meninas e
adolescentes internadas no Seminário da Gloria ou das Educandas, instituição caritativa,
localizada na cidade de São Paulo, que atendia as crianças expostas e abandonadas no
Hospital da Santa Casa de Misericórdia. O recorte temporal desse artigo refere-se às duas
últimas décadas do perÃodo imperial antes da Abolição da Escravatura em 1888. Por meio
de inúmeras fontes documentais (cartas, depoimentos, ofÃcios, requerimentos, relatórios,
petições, etc.) disponÃveis no Arquivo Público do Estado de São Paulo (APESP), este estudo
permite realizar uma reconstrução das trajetórias de vida das internas, suas estratégias de
sobrevivência e resistência dentro da instituição.

This academic article aims to analyze the daily of the girls and teenagers interned
in the Seminary of the Gloria or the Educandas, charitable institution located in the city of
São Paulo, that tooks care of the exposed and abandoning children in the Hospital of Santa
Casa de Misericórdia. The secular clipping of this article mentions the two finishes decades
of the imperial period before the Abolition of the Slavery in 1888. Through innumerable
documentary sources (letters, depositions, crafts, requirements, reports, petitions, etc.)
available for the Public Archive of the State of São Paulo (APESP), this study allows to carry
through a reconstruction of the trajectories of life of the interned ones, their strategies of
survival and resistance inside of the institution.
