Este artigo visa compreender alguns aspectos do processo de incorporação do futebol à s práticas culturais populares, como as notas esportivas dos periódicos soteropolitanos de tÃtulos como: Foot-ball de Vadios, Foot-ball de Garotos, referindo-se ao futebol praticado pelos grupos populares. Através das notas esportivas, busca-se, ainda, identificar quais os espaços que cotidianamente foram inventados e/ou (re)significados pelos grupos populares. A partir do estudo da relação entre o futebol e aqueles grupos foi possÃvel desconstruir a ideia de aquele esporte surgiu entre as elites para depois difundir-se entre as camadas populares. Finalmente, a intenção deste artigo foi enfatizar que a introdução do futebol em Salvador ocorreu de múltiplas formas e as camadas populares, assim como as elites, foram protagonistas deste processo.
This article aims to understand some aspects of the process of incorporation of football by the popular cultural practices, like the newspapers notes with titles like: "Football de Vadios" and "Foot-ball de Garotos" referring to the football played by popular groups. Through sports notes, we seek to also identify the areas that were daily invented and/or (re)interpreted by popular groups. From the study of the relationship between football and those groups it was possible to deconstruct the idea that this sport emerged between the elites and then spread among the popular layers. Finally, the intent of this article was to emphasize that the introduction of football in Salvador occurred in multiple forms and the popular layers, as well as the elites, were protagonists in this process.
