Este artigo trata da pesquisa sobre importância da leitura no Ensino Fundamental, teve por objetivo verificar de que forma a leitura é trabalhada na sala de aula se o educador proporciona possibilidades para que o educando tenha acesso aos diversos tipos de textos que encontramos em nosso dia a dia. A metodologia teve abordagem qualitativa e a técnica para a coleta de dados foi a observação participante e entrevista. Constatamos que a leitura é trabalhada de forma diversificada na sala de aula pesquisada, mas ainda é insuficiente para termos leitores proficientes.
This article is about the research referring to the importance of reading in the elementary school .It aims to check how the reading is performed in class if the teacher offers opportunities to the students have access to the several kinds of texts we find every day. The methodology had a qualitative approach and the data were gathered was carried out both through the participative observation and an interview. We noticed that reading is made in a diversified way, in the researched group, but, it still is not enough so that we can have profficient readers.
