O trabalho apresenta os resultados de uma análise de mapas mentais, mapas conceituais e textos explicativos para investigar as representações sociais compartilhadas por estudantes do ensino médio de uma escola pública sobre o tema Radiação, com o objetivo de verificar possíveis inidícios de aprendizagem significativa. Estes mapas e textos explicativos foram desenvolvidos pelos alunos quando da implementação de três Unidades de Ensino Potencialmente Significativas - UEPS. A compreensão dessas representações sociais pode auxiliar o processo de aprendizagem dos conceitos de Radiação, agregando às ideias do senso comum os conceitos científicos estudados sobre o tema. Os resultados expressam diversidade nas representações, com os estudantes mesclando, em seus mapas mentais, elementos do senso comum com elementos do conhecimento científico, mesmo que superficiamente, mostrando, assim, indícios de aprendizagem significatica ao final do trabalho com as três UEPS.

The work presents the results of the analisis of mental maps, conceptual maps and explanatory texts to investigate the social representations shared by high school students of a public school on the topic Radiation, with the aim of verify possible indications of meaningful learning. These maps and explanatory texts have been developed by the students when implementing three Potentially Meaningful Teaching Unit – PMTU. The understanding of these representations can help the process of learning the concepts of Radiation, adding to the ideas of common sense the scientific concepts studied on the subject. The results express diversity in the representations, with the students mixing, in their mental maps, elements of common sense with elements of the scientific knowledge, even though superficially, thus showing signs of meaningfull learning at the end of work with the three PMTU.
