Nos movimentos migratórios, as pessoas querem e se esforçam para cruzar todas as fronteiras territoriais a fim de chegarem ao destino escolhido. Porém, lá chegando, nem todas querem ou conseguem atravessar fronteiras culturais e sociais para realmente se integrarem ao novo ambiente. No cotidiano escolar e também na vida diária de crianças e jovens brasileiros que vivem no Japão, muitas vezes, as diferenças culturais e linguísticas são transformadas em barreiras que delimitam as fronteiras entre japoneses e brasileiros. O cotidiano escolar japonês constitui um ambiente de aprendizado e treinamento para a vida na sociedade japonesa. Por outro lado, muitas instituições educacionais brasileiras no Japão representam não só a garantia de poder continuar os estudos no Brasil, mas principalmente uma forma de manter a língua portuguesa e a cultura brasileira.

In migratory movements, people seek and strive to cross all territorial borders in order to reach their chosen destination. However, when they do, not all of them are able cross cultural and social borders to really integrate themselves into the new environment. Among Brazilian children and young people living in Japan —both in the day-to-day at school life and in daily life— cultural and linguistic differences are often transformed into barriers that mark the boundaries between themselves and the Japanese. The Japanese school daily life is an environment of learning and training for life in Japanese society. On the other hand, many Brazilian educational institutions in Japan represent not only the guarantee of being able to continue the studies in Brazil, but mainly a way of maintaining both the Portuguese language and the Brazilian culture.
