Diante da situação de precariedade escolar no que se refere a escolas do campo e de fracasso escolar como um fruto do fracasso da escola em estabelecer relações entre o conhecimento escolar e o conhecimento prático que o estudante já possui, tenho como objetivo, neste artigo, investigar o entendimento de seis pessoas – todas, de alguma forma, ligadas à educação do campo – a respeito do enunciado “é importante trazer a ‘realidade’ do aluno para as aulas de matemática”, discutido por Knijnik e Duarte (2010). Apresento, ainda, um sétimo entendimento, a partir de uma entrevista realizada comigo mesma. A problematização, feita por Larrosa (2006), sobre a realidade é fundamental para as reflexões que proponho neste texto.

In face of school precariousness in rural education and school failure to establish relation between the school knowledge and the practical knowledge, that the student has, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the understanding of six people – all of them connected with the rural education – about the statement: “It’s important to bring the student’s ‘Reality’ to Mathematics classes”, discussed by Knijnik and Duarte (2010). I also present a seventh understanding, based on an interview with myself. The questioning, made by Larrosa (2006), about reality is fundamental to the reflections that I propose in this article.
