As políticas educacionais voltadas para o reconhecimento e a valorização da diversidade cultural, influenciadas por organismos e organizações internacionais, têm ocupado lugar central nas definições governamentais dos diferentes países nas últimas décadas. Considerando o contexto de crise econômica do sistema capitalista, das reformas neoliberais, da reestruturação produtiva e da fragmentação das lutas sociais que se mobilizam em torno das especificidades e diferenças, o objetivo neste texto é discutir, por meio da análise de documentos internacionais e nacionais, as motivações sociais e históricas desta política, bem como da busca da construção do consenso envolvendo temas como a valorização cultural e a inclusão social.
Educational policies focused on the recognition and appreciation of cultural diversity, influenced by international agencies and organizations, have occupied a central place in government settings in different countries in recent decades. Considering the economic crisis in the context of the capitalist system, of neoliberal reforms, of production restructuring and fragmentation of social movements that mobilize around specificities and differences, the aim of this paper is to discuss, through international and national documents analysis, the social and historical motivations of this policy, as well as the pursuit of consensus building involving issues such as cultural development and social inclusion.
