O intuito desta análise é tratar sobre a cobrança do laudêmio em Vitória da Conquista, no interior baiano, e a destinação dos valores recolhidos à Igreja Católica. Do arraial até constituir-se cidade propriamente, a presença dos símbolos religiosos influía na determinação dos níveis da estrutura político-administrativa do lugar. Nesta permeabilidade entre Estado e Igreja, áreas eram doadas/entregues ao estamento religioso, firmando alianças entre ambos. Novas relações se estabeleceram entre estes dois entes com o advento da República. Porém, algumas questões ligadas à relação patrimonial e ao domínio de terras permaneceram tal qual à época do Império. É o caso de Vitória da Conquista, fundada em 1783, cujas terras foram doadas à Igreja Católica e, mais de treze décadas depois da separação das relações entre Estado e Igreja, o pagamento do tributo denominado laudêmio é atribuído à instituição religiosa. Utilizando o método estudo de caso, trata-se de uma análise histórico-descritiva, fundamentada na legislação atual, com a hipótese de que a cobrança ainda existente resulta das falhas na construção dos estágios organizacionais do município referido.

The purpose of this analysis is to deal with the collection of the laudemium in Vitória da Conquista, in the interior of Bahia, and the destination of the values collected to the Catholic Church. From the village to the actual city, the presence of religious symbols influenced the determination of the levels of the political-administrative structure of the place. In this permeability between State and Church, areas were donated/delivered to the religious estate, establishing alliances between both. New relations were established between these two entities with the advent of the Republic. However, some issues related to the patrimonial relationship and the dominion of land remained just as at the time of the Empire. This is the case of Vitória da Conquista, founded in 1783, whose lands were donated to the Catholic Church and, more than thirteen decades after the separation of the relations between the State and the Church, the payment of the tribute called laudemium is attributed to the religious institution. Using the case study method, this is a historical-descriptive analysis, based on the current legislation, with the hypothesis that the still existing collection results from failures in the construction of the organizational stages of the referred municipality.
