O artigo busca ampliar a compreensão da maneira como a literatura e as pesquisas jurídicas estudam e discutem as interfaces, convergências e relações entre funcionamento do sistema de justiça criminal e desigualdades raciais. Diante desse objetivo, revisitou-se quadros teóricos consolidados na Sociologia das Relações Raciais e aprofundou-se qualitativamente uma análise de pesquisas empíricas em Direito, para verificar a hipótese segundo a qual pesquisas empíricas em direito permitem a extração de referenciais úteis para (re)pensar a produção de saber jurídico e as práticas sociais. Para tanto, partimos de dois pressupostos fornecidos pela literatura: a potencialidade da interseccionalidade como ferramenta analítica para compreender o Direito e as evidências empíricas da persistência de desigualdade racial no âmbito do sistema de justiça criminal. A estratégia metodológica, que consistiu em uma revisão analítica de literatura, foi dividida em duas etapas: levantamento e seleção de produções teóricas sobre relações raciais, na primeira, análise de dez pesquisas empíricas em direito selecionadas, na segunda. O trabalho resultou na construção de distinções teóricas e metodológicas importantes sobre o conjunto de articulações e estruturas conceituais que relacionam justiça criminal e desigualdades raciais.

The article seeks to broaden the understanding of the way literature and legal research study and discuss the interfaces, convergences and relationships between the functioning of the criminal justice system and racial inequalities. In view of this objective, we revisited the theoretical frameworks consolidated in the Sociology of Racial Relations and qualitatively deepened an analysis of empirical research in law, to verify the hypothesis according to which empirical research in law allows the extraction of useful references to (re)think about the production of legal knowledge and social practices. Therefore, we start from two assumptions provided by the literature: the potentiality of intersectionality as an analytical tool to understand the law and the empirical evidence of the persistence of racial inequality within the criminal justice system. The methodological strategy, which consisted of an analytical literature review, was divided into two stages: survey and selection of theoretical productions on race relations, in the first, analysis of ten empirical studies in selected law, in the second. The work resulted in the construction of important theoretical and methodological distinctions about the set of articulations and conceptual structures that relate criminal justice and racial inequalities.
