Para a realização da presente pesquisa, partiu-se do pressuposto de que o fenômeno da polarização política no Brasil pode ser melhor compreendido por meio da Cultura Política como ferramenta analítica. Assim, a pergunta norteadora foi: quais os fundamentosculturais que estruturam o antagonismo e a polarização no Brasil hoje? O objetivo principal consiste em compreender como valores orientam percepções antagônicas sobre a política brasileira. Para tanto, analisaram-se grupos focais sobre imaginário políticoaplicados no Brasil pela equipe do World Values Survey (WVS). Especificamente, buscou-se (i) identificar elementos e dinâmicas que configuram a construção de antagonismos em processos de ruptura, negação, distanciamento e diferenciação; (ii) identificar as dimensões –ideológicas, afetivas, morais e econômicas –manifestas nas formas de antagonismo; e (iii) sistematizar e interpretar essas configurações à luz da teoria das representações sociais.
For the present research, it was assumed that the phenomenon of political polarization in Brazil can be better understood through the analytical framework of Political Culture. Accordingly, the guiding question was: What cultural foundations structure antagonism and polarization in Brazil today? The main objective is to understand how values shape antagonistic perceptions of Brazilian politics. To this end, focus groups on political imaginaries conducted in Brazil by the World Values Survey (WVS) team were analyzed. Specifically, the study sought to (i) identify the elements and dynamics that configure the construction of antagonisms in processes of rupture, denial, distancing, and differentiation; (ii) identify the ideological, affective, moral, and economic dimensions manifested in these forms of antagonism; and (iii) systematize and interpret these configurations in light of social representation theory.
