O presente texto tem como objetivo colaborar com a discussão e reflexão sobre a interação da família com a escola, sem ter a pretensão de esgotar o assunto. Aborda questões como o significado do conceito de família, sua função social e os modelos nos quais se apresentam nos diferentes momentos da história. Mudanças ocorridas no âmbito socioeconômico e político, nos últimos 20 anos, têm um rebatimento importante sobre a família brasileira. Na década de 1990, temos a aprovação de leis nacionais e elaboração de diretrizes do Ministério da Educação, cujos conteúdos evidenciam a importância da participação da família na escola. Pontuamos alguns aspectos que influenciam na participação da família na escola e o significado de participação.
The present paper aims to discuss and provide some thought about the interaction between the school and the family without being exhaustive. lf approaches issues such as the meaning of the concept of family, its social Junctions and the models upon which they are presented over different times in history. ln the last 20 years there have been changes at the political and socio-economic contexts which have thrown effects upon the Brazilian family. ln the nineties, we have had national laws and direc-tives of the Ministry of Education approved, th e contents of which evidence the importance of the participation of the family in the school life. The paper highlights some a'spects that influence such participation and the meaning of this participation.
