Neste artigo pretende-se reflectir sobre o papel de Moçambique na região da Africa Austral. Sem pretender fazer uma análise exaustiva do processo de integração na SADC, o artigo busca a compreensão do contributo de Moçambique no desenvolvimento politico, económico e social da região da SADC. As vantagens resultantes da sua localização geoestratégica e o seu cometimento para com a causa da libertação dos países que se encontravam sob a dominação de regimes minoritários são factores que concorreram para o desempenho, por Moçambique, de um papel crucial nos desenvolvimentos ocorridos na região da Africa Austral.
This paper aims to analyse the role of Mozambique in the region of Southern Africa. Without making an exhaustive analysis of the integration process in SADC, the article seeks to understand Mozambique’s contribution to the political, economic and social development of the SADC region. The advantages resulting from its geostrategic location and its commitment to the cause of the liberation of countries that were under the domination of minority regimes were factors that contributed to Mozambique’s performance of a crucial role in developments in the Southern African region.
