Objetivou-se com o presente estudo, mapear e compreender os sentimentos vivenciados pelo pai em casos de nascimento de filho prematuro internado em uma Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Neonatal (UTIN). Para isso, realizou-se uma busca e análise dos artigos, incluindo pesquisas nas bases eletrônicas Scielo, Psyclnfo, Pepsic, PubMed, Scopus e nos portais Capes e BVS, nos meses de junho e julho de 2018. Foram incluídas publicações compreendendo o período de 2008 a 2018 com o uso de termos padronizados e previstos pelo DECS e Mesh Terms: premature, paternity e neonatal intensive care unit. Foram incluídos na pesquisa os artigos publicados em revistas científicas no intervalo dos últimos dez anos, em língua portuguesa, inglesa e espanhola. Pesquisas que examinavam o papel do pai em uma Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Neonatal (UTIN) foram inclusas. Concluiu-se que, profissionais da enfermagem possuem maior interesse em pesquisar a respeito do papel paterno em contextos de prematuridade. Estes estudos verificaram que os pais (homens), integrantes das pesquisas, relataram sentimentos de surpresa e medo quanto ao nascimento do filho prematuro, estes mesmos pais queriam estar inseridos nos cuidados do recém-nascido internado, e por fim descobriram seu verdadeiro papel como pai.
The objective of this study was to map and understand the feelings experienced by the father in cases of the birth of a premature child hospitalized in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). For this, a search and analysis of the articles were carried out including researches in the electronic bases Scielo, Psyclnfo, Pepsic, PubMed, Scopus and in the portals Capes and VHL, in the months of June and July of 2018. Publications including the period from 2008 to 2018 with the use of standard terms and predicted by DECS and Mesh Terms: premature, paternity and neonatal intensive care unit. The articles included in the research were articles published in scientific journals during the last ten years, in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Researches that analyzed the father's role in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU were included. It was concluded that nursing professionals have a greater interest in researching on the paternal role in contexts of prematurity. These studies found that the parents (men) reported that they felt feelings of surprise and fear about the birth of the preterm child that these same parents wanted to be included in the care of the hospitalized newborn and finally discovered their true role as father.
