Recepção de Grande Sertão: Veredas na Catalunha: uma crônica

O objetivo do presente trabalho é o de avaliar a recepção da tradução catalã do romance Grande Sertão: Veredas (1956), de Guimarães Rosa, realizada por Xavier Pàmies e publicada pela editora Edicions 62 em 1990. Anteriormente, na Catalunha, havia sido divulgada a obra rosiana a partir da tradução em espanhol de Ángel Crespo, publicada em 1967 pela editora Seix Barral com sede em Barcelona. Assim, examinamos o impacto daquela primeira tradução no conjunto dos países hispano-falantes, no que se inclui a Catalunha integrada no Estado espanhol. Em seguida, apresentamos o tradutor, Xavier Pàmies, e o contexto sócio cultural em que apareceu a tradução para o catalão tentando assim elucidar a difusão que teve na comunidade leitora e intelectual de fala catalã. Por fim, fazemos uma reflexão sobre os termos sertão e veredas, chaves que conformam o enigma do título, mas que apresentam grandes dificuldades para a sua adaptação no âmbito das línguas ibéricas, tanto para o catalão quanto para o espanhol.

This piece of work aims at evaluating the reception of the Catalan translation of the novel Grande Sertão Veredas (1956) by Guimarães Rosa, made by Xavier Pàmies and published by Edicions 62 in 1990. Previously in Catalonia, Rosa´s work was widespread with the Spanish translation by Ángel Crespo published in 1967 by Seix Barral housed in Barcelona. First, it is examined the impact of the first translation in the Spanishspeaking countries, in which Catalonia, integrated in the Spanish Sate, is included. Second, Xavier Pàmies, the translator is introduced and the social-cultural context in which the Catalan translation was presented trying to understand the diffusion in the intellectual and reading communities of Catalonia. Finally, it is intended to present a comment about the terms 'sertão' and 'veredas', on one hand, key to understand the enigma of the title, on the other hand, words with great difficulty to the adaptation in the Iberian languages, not only for Catalan, but also for Spanish.
