TENDÊNCIAS DA PESQUISA CIENTÍFICA EM EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL: UMA REVISÃO CIENCIOMÉTRICA

Diante das diferentes perspectivas sobre a Educação Ambiental (EA) que emergiram ao longo dos anos, é importante que haja a compreensão do conceito, das lacunas e abordagens sobre o tema.Portanto, buscamos avaliar como a EA foi abordada pela comu-nidade científica e quais os efeitos dessas abordagens sobre a sua aplicação no contexto educacional. Para isso, buscamos respon-der às seguintes questões: (i) Os estudos direcionados à EA têm recebido atenção da comunidade científica? (ii) quais são as ten-dências nas publicações de EA? (iii) Nos últimos anos, tem havido um aumento no número de publicações sobre EA? Para obtenção de um resultado global sobre a EA, realizamos uma busca cien-ciométrica na base de dados do Web of Science por meio de uma busca avançada compreendendo títulos e palavras-chave com a se-guinte expressão: (“environment* educ*”). Restringimos os anos de busca de 1991 (quando os resumos das publicações começaram a ser indexados na plataforma) a 2019. Observamos que o Brasil se destacou no número de publicações, ref letindo a preocupação dos pesquisadores brasileiros em promover a sustentabilidade e a ma-nutenção da biodiversidade. Quanto às abordagens, os estudos são amplos, indo desde a inf luência das políticas de proteção ambien-tal até a importância da ref lexão em nível global, propondo acor-dos internacionais. No que se refere à aplicação da EA, dadas as múltiplas correntes existentes, cabe ressaltar a importância de que o processo de ensino-aprendizagem ocorra de forma crítica para que não haja favorecimento dos conteúdos promovidos e apoiados por uma classe hegemônica.

Given the different perspectives on Environmental Education (EE) that have emerged over the years, it is important to understand the concept of the gaps and approaches on the subject. Therefore, we sought to evaluate how EE has been approached by the scientific community and what are the effects of these approaches on its application in the educational context. To this end, we seek to answer the following questions: (i) Studies targeting EE have received attention from the scientific community? (ii) what’s trending in EA publications? (iii) In recent years, has there been an increase in the number of publications on EE? In order to obtain a global result on EE, we performed a scientometric search in the Web of Science database by means of an advanced search comprising titles and keywords with the following expression: (“environment* educ*”). We restricted the search years from 1991 (when the abstracts of publications began to be indexed on the platform) to 2019. Thus, we observed that Brazil stood out in the number of publications, ref lecting the concern of Brazilian researchers in promoting sustainability and the maintenance of biodiversity. As for the approaches, the studies are broad, ranging from the inf luence of environmental protection policies to the importance of ref lection at the global level, proposing international agreements. With regard to the application of EE, given the multiple existing currents, it is important to emphasize the importance of the teaching-learning process occurring in a critical way so that there is no favoring of the contents promoted and supported by a hegemonic class.
