A partir dos estudos de Georges Duby e Dominique Iogna-Prat sobre a formulação da teoria das três ordens como representação da organização social na Idade Média, este artigo pretende analisar o Livro da Virtuosa Benfeitoria, escrito pelo príncipe D. Pedro em Portugal no início do século XV, de forma a compreender as apropriações e reformulações do sistema no contexto avisino. Segundo o caminho aberto por Duby, trata-se de investigar a permanência da figura trifuncional e suas adaptações em proposições ideológicas específicas.

Considering the studies by Georges Duby and Dominique IognaPrat on the formulation of the theory of the three orders as a representation of social organization in the Middle Ages, this article analyzes the Book of Virtuous Benefaction, written by Prince Pedro in Portugal at the beginning of XVth century in order to understand the appropriations and reformulations of the system in the context of the Avis dinasty. Following the path opened by Duby, it intends to investigate the permanence of the trifunctional figure and its adaptations in specific ideological propositions.
