A violência doméstica contra a mulher busca dominação da mulher pelo homem, sendo que na violência patrimonial é patente a tentativa de dominação do gênero feminino. Apesar das consequências que tal violência pode gerar ela é pouco estudada e percebida, seja por fatores históricos, seja por fatores sociais, o que faz com que seja difícil de ser combatida.
