Esta pesquisa objetiva comparar e analisar o grau de alfabetização científica entre ingressantes e concluintes do Curso de Ciências Biológicas da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Para isso, foi utilizado o Teste de Alfabetização Científica Básica, criado pelos pesquisadores Rudiger C. Laugksch e Peter E. Spargo, em 1996. Entre outros resultados, pode-se afirmar que a média de acertos dos estudantes foi de 78,4% e as médias dos ingressantes e concluintes não diferiram significativamente entre si (=0,05). Em síntese, pode-se afirmar que essa pesquisa fornece subsídios para promover melhorias no ensino da Ciência e da Tecnologia neste curso de graduação.
The research is intended to analyze and compare the degree of scientific literacy between freshmen and students in the last semester of the course of Biology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. To achieve this purpose, we used the Basic Scientific Literacy Test, created and validated by the researchers Rudiger C. Laugksch and Peter E. Spargo, in 1996. According to the results, we can see that the average student score was 78,4%, and the average scores of freshmen and last semester students do not differ significantly (=0,05). In summary, we can say that this research project provides insights to promote improvements in the teaching of science and technology in this undergraduate course.
