O presente artigo apresenta o relato da história cultural e política dos surdos de Mato Grosso do Sul de 1982 a 2022. Ele traça uma linha de acontecimentos ao longo dos anos, mostrando as ações que foram realizadas antes, durante e depois do documento elaborado pela Comunidade Surda, a partir do Pré-Con- gresso ao V Congresso Latino-Americano de Educação Bilíngue para Surdos, realizado em Porto Alegre/ RS, no salão de atos da reitoria da UFRGS, nos dias 20 a 24 de abril de 1999, e da passeata que ocorreu, resultando no documento elaborado: A Educação que nós surdos queremos. É importante esclarecer que a referida pesquisa foi desenvolvida por duas pesquisadoras e militantes surdas envolvidas no processo his- tórico que será apresentado: através das Leis conquistadas; dos projetos implementados, que contemplam também os indígenas surdos; do movimento das mulheres surdas e efetivamente pelo Protagonismo Surdo de pesquisadores e professores surdos de Mato Grosso do Sul.
This article presents an account of the cultural and political history of deaf people from Mato Grosso do Sul from 1982 to 2022. It traces a line of events over the years showing the actions that were taken before, during and after the document prepared by the deaf community, from the Pre-Congress to the V Latin American Congress for Deaf Bilingual Education, held in Porto Alegre / RS, in the hall of acts of the rectory of the UFRGS, on April 20-24, 1999, and the march that occurred, resulting in the document pre- pared: Education that we deaf want. It is important to clarify that this research was developed by two deaf researchers and activists involved in the historical process that will be presented: through the conquered laws; the implemented projects, which also contemplate the deaf indigenous people; the movement of deaf women; and effectively by the deaf protagonism of deaf researchers and teachers of Mato Grosso do Sul.
