Os conceitos de Surdez no que refere à diferença e à deficiência, o etnocentrismo da tradição oralista, as Identidades Surdas, o multiculturalismo são pontos relevantes neste trabalho. O enfoque deste trabalho é a Identidade Cultural Surda dentro do contexto multicultural, perpassando as várias fases da História dos Surdos, no contexto do Oralismo, nas relações sociais, na sua trajetória para romper a homogeneidade, aos momentos atuais e desafios na educação.
Deaf concepts linked to the notions of difference and disability, the ethnocentrism of the oralist tradition, deaf identity and multiculturalism are relevant aspects of the present paper. The focus of this article is the deaf cultural identity within a multicultural context which goes through the various phases of the history of deaf people from oralism, to social relations, in their journey towards the breakthrough from homogeneity to the present moments and challenges in education.
